Journey to Indian Thar Desrt 1999

Rājasthān, the land of Rajasthanis (the land of Kings), is the largest state of the Republic of India by area. It is located in the northwest of India. It encompasses most of the area of the large, inhospitable Great Indian Desert (Thar Desert), which has an edge paralleling the Sutlej-Indus river valley along its border with Pakistan.

Thar Desert is the world's seventh largest desert and is without doubt the most inhospitable ecoregion in the Indo-Pacific region. However, 4,000 to 5,000 years ago this area supported what is considered to be one of the world's oldest civilizations, the Mohenjo Daro and Harappa.
